Before leaving for summer break, there are a few things you may want to do to prepare for next year and make your August return a little more smooth. If you are a Seesaw user, complete the following steps to archive a class: #1 - Have Families and/or Students Download Their Files From a computer using the Chrome or Firefox browser, sign into your FAMILY account at  https://app.seesaw.me Click the PROFILE icon in the top, left corner: Click ACCOUNT SETTINGS : Scroll down and select DOWNLOAD JOURNAL ARCHIVES: Click the DOWNLOAD JOURNAL button: A zipped file will be downloaded that is organized by month and year. Keller ISD teachers - it's that time of year. If you are on a 187-day contract, you most likely are required to participate in Equivalency Time (aka EQ).* For the coming school year, you have 3 built-in EQ days -  October 14, 2019 November 25, 2019 November 26, 2019 This means that our School Board approved the 2019-2020 KISD Calendar with these 3 days of compensation- but no requirement to be present at work ON THAT DATE . How does that work? The School Board in return is asking you to EXCHANGE 18 HOURS of professional learning (learning that occurs on your OWN time &  OFF of your regular contract time) for these days.  The great thing is the 18-hour requirement OPENS May 25, 2019 and isn't DUE until May 1, 2020.  You have 11 months to fulfill this contract obligation! Keller ISD Educational Technology ventured into something new this year - KIC Start Your Learning, a YouTube LIVE event.  These are 30 minute sessions on a particular topic offered from 4:30-5:00 pm on scheduled dates. *Keller ISD EQ Credit is offered to those who watch live, participate throughout the event and submit a form for credit verification. If you are concerned with students getting distracted while on the web and becoming inundated with ads and links to the point where the content is difficult to read, use Read & Write's SIMPLIFY tool.

So not too long ago, we posted about integrating Newsela into Google Classroom with seamless delivery to your students. Guess what? Newsela is not the only tool! There are many educational digital resources that now integrate with content and learning management systems. If you are using a digital resource and wondering, could I deliver this through Google Classroom, you probably can! Here is a quick video highlighting apps that work with Google Classroom. Share Quizlet sets for use all year long through Google Classroom: 1. Create teacher account 2. Choose content or create a set of flashcards 3. Click Share 4. Choose Share on Google Classroom Your students can play a fun Kahoot! in class for review and then practice it at home through Google Classroom, here's how: 1. Create teacher account 2. Search for content or create game 3. Choose Challenge, click Create 4. Share directly on Google Classroom (NOTE: Students can only participate from the app.)
